What is a die spring?
Die springs are a good choice in assemblies where high force is required for limited installation dimensions.
Die springs are selected according to the working hole and shaft diameter. There has to be room for a die spring to work without hindrance, so the starting point is not the physical dimensions of the die spring but the installation dimensions.
Hole diameter does not mean the outside diameter of the die spring, but specifies the diameter of the hole the die spring can work in.
The maximum travel should not be used or exceeded, as this will considerably lessen the service life of the die spring.
To avoid shock loads, a die spring must always be installed pretensioned.
